Who is Rob
A Little About Me
High School Teacher, Professional Musician, and Adventurer
Prior to becoming a teacher I earned my Music diploma, majoring in Performance from MacEwan University. I have had the privilege of performing with many amazing ensembles. As a member of the Edmonton Winds I have had some of my biggest adventures recording albums and travelling all over the world performing.
Teaching and performance have taken me all over Canada, the United States, Mexico, Spain, France, Italy, Austria, and Germany. These experiences have been invaluable to me becoming who I am today. My experiences travelling and exploring here in Alberta have shaped me into the person I love being the most. The Canadian Rocky Mountains are next to none when it comes to providing true experiences of a lifetime.
I only really started hiking in 2019 when my partner Jolene took me out for my first “real” hike. Since then I was hooked. I have been dedicating all of my free time to learning and experiencing everything the Rockies have to offer. I love to hike, scramble, backpack, snowshoe, rock climb, and boulder. I love it so much that have been actively pursuing becoming a professional hiking guide with the Association of Canadian Mountain Guides. I have all of my prerequisites completed to take the course, I just have to take time off of teaching to complete the program. Along with becoming a hiking guide I would also like to pursue ice climbing and eventually mountaineering.
Accolades
I have been working hard learning everything I can to help me achieve my goal of becoming a professional hiking guide. Here are a few of the accolades I have earned along the way.
Scrambling Skills
I earned this from Yamnuska Mountain Adventures. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to learn how to safely scramble. I did the 3 day course and on my final day I got to climb solo with Barry Blanchard.
Avalanche Skills Training 1
Mountains 101

If you want to be safe in the mountains you absolutely need to do this course.
